Admira Fusion x-tra
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the conventional restorative workflow used with traditional composites apply when using Admira Fusion x-tra?
Yes. Despite Admira Fusion x-tra's nano-ORMOCER matrix (as opposed to a traditional composite's resin monomer-based matrix), the process of placing the restoration is the same.
Will my current resin-based bonding agent that I use with my resin-based traditional composite restoratives work with Admira Fusion x-tra?
In general yes. Admira Fusion x-tra works with all resin-based bonding agents utilized in the light-cured mode. It is used in the adhesive technique with a dentin-enamel bond. So all light-cured resin-based adhesives can be used. Follow the respective instructions-for-use with regard to preparation (etching technique) and application.
Do I need to layer Admira Fusion x-tra in 2mm increments?
No. Admira Fusion x-tra has a 4mm depth of cure thus it can be placed in bulk up to 4mm or layered in increments.
What is the depth-of-cure of Admira Fusion x-tra?
4mm
Is Admira Fusion x-tra radio-opaque?
Yes. Admira Fusion x-tra is 300 %Al double the required percentage for radiopacity.
What kind of curing light should I use with Admira Fusion x-tra?
Conventional LED or halogen polymerization devices are suitable for light-curing the material
How long does Admira Fusion x-tra need to be light cured?
When using an LED-/halogen light with a minimum light output of 800 mW/cm² the curing time is 20 seconds, with a minimum light output of 500 mW/cm² the curing time is 40 seconds. Hold the light emission tip of the device as close as possible to the surface of the filling. Otherwise, the curing depth may be reduced. Incomplete curing may lead to
discoloration and discomfort.
How do I polish Admira Fusion x-tra?
The restoration can be finished and polished immediately after removing the matrices with a fine or extra-fine diamond bur or polisher.
What shades are available with Admira Fusion x-tra?
Admira Fusion x-tra is available in one universal shade. If you have interest in a more shade variations we would refer you to Admira Fusion
Does Admira Fusion x-tra come in both caps and syringes?
Yes, it can be purchased in either 3 g syringes or 15 x 0.2 g caps.
Beyond its single universal shade, what other benefits can my practice and my patients derive from using Admira Fusion x-tra?
Admira Fusion x-tra is a part of VOCO’s nano-ORMOCER line of products, which is an innovative proprietary formulization that is based on the combination of two highly successful technologies, Nano-hybrid Technology (VOCO 2005) and ORMORCER (ORganically MOdified CERamic) Technology (VOCO 1998). Together these technologies make up Admira Fusion x-tra’s fillers and resin replacement matrix and are both based purely on silicon oxide. Nano-ORMOCERs have some remarkable physical properties that enable Admira Fusion x-tra’s significantly low initial shrinkage rate as compared to conventional composites at only 1.25%. Furthermore, Nano-ORMOCERs are 100% BPA-free and contain none of the classic monomers (BISGMA, UDMA, TEGDMA, etc.) found in traditional composites—which provides a much higher level of biocompatibility for your patients to minimize allergy concerns.
What is an ORMOCER restorative and how does it differ from a traditional composite?
Silicon oxide forms the chemistry base for VOCO's nano-ORMOCER restoratives, not only for the fillers (nano-fillers as well as glass ceramics) but also – and this represents the innovative achievement in development – for the resin matrix.
This unique ”Pure Silicate Technology“ makes this line of restoratives the world’s first all ceramic-based restorative material and offers several remarkable advantages.
Nano-ORMOCER® restoratives contain no classic monomers, such as BisGMA, TEGDMA or HEMA, thus eliminating the potential for such substances to be released after polymerization. The ORMOCER ® (ORganically MOdified CERamics), which have been used in place of conventional monomers, consist of large and precondensed molecules of an inorganic matrix with a high degree of cross-linking.
With this ORMOCER® technology, the overall results are one of excellent biocompatibility.
What is the science behind Admira Fusion x-tra's shade-matching capabilities?
Admira Fusion x-tra’s nano-hybrid fillers are composed of a high ratio of nano-particles with additional micro and macro particles – or glass fillers immersed in an ORMOCER matrix. When the nano-particles are viewed under an electron mi croscope, they are spherical in shape and measure 20–40 nano-meters in diameter.
Due to their size and shape, Admira Fusion x-tra’s designer nano-particles do not diffract or refract light. Rather, light passes through the nano-particles, hits the surrounding tooth structure and returns to the human eye now influenced by the shade and color of the surrounding tooth structure. It is for this reason that Admira Fusion x-tra has the unique ability to match the shade range of human dentition in a single omni-chromatic universal shade.
